Like no other creature in the animal kingdom, spiders have a strange and fascinating effect on humans. The black widow is considered the queen among arachnids. This venomous beauty is distinguished by the conspicuous red spots on its shiny black body. The black widow owes its name to the special ability of the female to eat the male after mating, thus becoming a widow.

In some countries, the spider is considered a symbol of good luck.
