Nicolaus corpenicus
Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance-era mathematician and astronomer who is best known for his heliocentric model of the universe. He was born on February 19, 1473, in Thorn, Poland and died on May 24, 1543, in Frauenburg, Poland.
Copernicus developed the idea that the Earth and other planets revolve around the Sun, which was a radical idea in his time, as the prevailing view was that the Earth was the center of the universe and that all celestial bodies revolved around it. He published this idea in his book “De revolutionibus orbium coelestium” in 1543, just a few months before his death.
His work had a major impact on the scientific revolution and paved the way for further astronomical discoveries. Despite opposition from the Catholic Church, Copernicus’ heliocentric model was widely accepted by the scientific community and became the basis for modern astronomy. Today, he is considered one of the most important figures in the history of science.
